The giants in Nantes

  1. Royal de Luxe is a French mechanical marionette street theatre company. They were founded in 1979 in Aix-en-Provence by Jean-Luc Courcoult. After some years based in Toulouse, the company moved to Nantes in 1989, the company has performed in France, Belgium, England, Germany, Iceland, Chile, Australia and Mexico.

We went to the center of Nantes to watch the Giants waking up.
The 'operators' were a little late, but once they arrived, things came to life.

The little giant was sleeping in his bed, suspended by two cranes.
The Granny was sleeping in her wheelchair, then slowly sat up to take a swig of whisky before starting the journey.
The little giant put on his shoes and started walking through the city.

The streets were rather crowded, but the weather was wonderful.
