The 'Red Centre' was our destination after Marguerite had been fixed in Alice. We arrived at Uluru to watch the sunrise. We weren't alone either, about 15 buses and another 50 cars were there waiting to watch the day start. After walking around Uluru we returned to the $30 per night piece of dirt in the campground before returning to watch the sun go down on the Rock. Again with the crowds who witnessed the show in the morning.

Uluru in the daytime
Uluru at sunset
A sleep in and relaxing morning was followed by the 50km trip out to Kata Tjuta, the Olgas. The walk rightly named the " Valley of the winds" was very impressive and even in the hot sun, with the cool breeze blowing for most of the 3 hours, it was quite enjoyable. We stayed there to watch the sunset, this time minus the crowds.
On the Road to Kings Canyon we saw quite an
array of creatures, from the Camel, Western Roo, Dingo and several birds of prey. The Rim walk at the Canyon, which i remember taking with Mum and Dad 15 years earlier was incredible. Brilliant views out accross the valley and up into the canyon. The colour and magnitude of the canyon walls is something which you cannot capture in a photo, it must be seen. (We can't even find a good postcard of the canyon). Although we didn't see any Perenties, we both had an amazing walk. Now, back in Alice to re-fuel, shop and continue north. (GO CHELSEA)
The best of the best, Kings Canyon.
