Perth - Esperance

After our stop in Perth-Fremantle we headed south to the Margaret River Region. I, being the only consumer of alcohol in our relationship was a very happy man indeed. We visited a few wineries and i can give my nod of approval to almost all the wines that we, I, tried. At the west of this wonderful wine region are some amazing forests. The trees here can grom to more than 50 meters tall. Even more incredibly, someone who must have tasted wat too much of the glorious wine thought that it would be a good idea to climb up the tallest of trees to have a nice view. So that's what they did. Now, you can go up these trees yourself via a ladder of 'bolts' that they have rammed into the tree. Having recovered from the effects of a wine tasting afternoon i did not feel the need to climb, but Elo went to the first stage on one of the trees which was 25m up. The top of the tree that you can access, was an incredible 75meters. I was happy this day to be taking the photographs.


Apres Perth, nous nous sommes diriges vers Margaret River, une region tres connue pour ses vins. Etant donne qu'il pleuvait, nous avons passe la journee a essayer les vins, enfin M a essayer, moi je consuidais. Apparement, ils etaient tous bons, on a quand meme fait environ 5 vignobles et M a essayer environ 8 vins dans chaque, je vous laisse deviner le resultat.
Ensuite on part dans la foret pour faire la montee d'un "gloucester" (un grand arbre) d'environ 75m. Pas de bol, il pleut toujours et il y a beaucoup de vent. J'essaie quand meme jusqu'au premier palier apres on verra. En fait, les "marches" sont juste des barres de fer. Donc il n'y a aucune protection, rien, en dessous c'est le vide!!! J'arrive enfin au premier palier, mais les jambes tremblotantes apres les six dernieres marches. Elles deviennent de plus en plus abruptes!!! Bref, avec le vent et la pluie, je ne me sens pas tres rassuree de continuer, donc je redescends par le meme chemin mais a l'envers.


Le long de la cote est magnifique, c'est des falaises et encore de superbe plages. Une grande preference pour "Two Peoples Bay", on a adore.
Further along the coast we stopped at Two Peoples Bay which had beautiful white sand and clear blue water. It was still a little cold so we stayed on the beach.
The whole southern coast takes a fair battering from the ocean and strong winds. Sometimes the cliffs display a great show of white water crashing over the rocks. Very hard to capture the enormity of the wave in a photo.
Ensuite on a continue dans la foret pour faire "la marche en haut des arbres". C'est une installation qui se trouve a 40m de hauteur et qui permet donc d'etre aussi haut que les arbres. Le probleme c'est qu'il y a que deux piliers qui maintiennent la structure la plus en haut, tres fins (comme un arbre) et donc quand tu te retrouve a 40m de hauteur, ca bouge pas mal. De plus la ou tu marche c'est rempli de trous donc tu vois le sol. Un peu difficile pour M, mais il l'a quand meme fait!!!!
The tree top walk does not get my tick of approval. There were no signs at the start of the walk saying how much the structure moved in the wind and those who are uncomfortable with heights should think twice. I didn't. I went. I managed a smile. Then ran like a little girl to the end. Elo had to make me feel great by going back a second time. If you can imagine scaffolding being set up on top of telegraph poles at a height of 40meters, then you can understand my concern. There was also a cyclone coming through the valley which made the "structure" move more than i hoped it would. I'm sure the view was great but i didn't spend a lot of time looking around. Enjoyable for those people who wish they were a bird.
Tout le long de la cote, il y a des falaises et ce jour la il y avait beaucoup de vent, ca donnait des trucs pas mal, comme un feu d'artifice de vagues enormes!!!
The ocean along the coast was producing a great fireworks display.
Ensuite on arrive a Esperance, ou il y a le "Cap Le Grand NP" et oui c'est francais enfin le nom!! Trop beau comme d'hab. Dans le parc il y avait le "Frenchman's Peak" que l'on a grimpe qui etait vraiment excellent, belle vue, rempli de cave.
At Esperance and visited Cape Le Grand national park. A huge monolith named 'Frenchman's Peak' proved quite a steap climb, but we made it to the top to enjoy it's great view across the sea and further inland.Sorry for the gay pose. It was an accident.
